This Privacy Policy explains how MandarinRise ("MandarinRise," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our iOS app, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

  • The MandarinRise iOS application
  • MandarinRise websites and landing pages
  • Backend APIs and related systems used to provide app functionality

We collect information you provide directly, information generated through use of the Service, and information from platform providers.

A. Account and Identity Data

  • Apple Sign-In identifier
  • Email and display name (if provided by Apple and/or you)

B. Learning and Progress Data

  • Selected learning track and script preferences
  • Mission, unit, and activity completion status
  • XP, gems, streak, heart status, and related profile stats
  • Subscription status and entitlement state

C. Social/Room Data

  • Study room membership and role (admin/member)
  • Room metadata (room name, invite code, study goals, admin notes)
  • Shared practice packs and related activity context
  • Nickname you choose in room features

D. Practice and Content Feedback Data

  • Issue reports submitted from exercises
  • Report metadata such as mission, exercise type, sentence identifiers/text, timestamps, and selected reason

E. Technical and Device Data

  • App/device-generated identifiers used for syncing and reliability
  • Time zone and request metadata
  • Sync logs and idempotency metadata to prevent duplicate writes

F. Purchase and Subscription Data

  • StoreKit transaction and subscription entitlement details required to validate access
  • Product identifier, active/expired status, and expiration/renewal-related timestamps

G. Microphone and Speech Data

  • If you use speaking features, we request microphone and speech recognition permissions.
  • Speech input/transcription may be processed to evaluate pronunciation and speaking performance.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to operate, secure, and improve MandarinRise, including to:

  • Provide and maintain learning features and account access
  • Personalize content and progress state across sessions/devices
  • Process subscription access and paid feature entitlements
  • Enable social features such as study rooms and shared packs
  • Detect abuse, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms
  • Troubleshoot issues and improve product quality/performance
  • Communicate service, legal, and operational notices

4. Legal Bases and Business Purpose

Where applicable law requires, we process information based on one or more of the following:

  • Performance of our contract with you
  • Legitimate interests in operating, protecting, and improving the Service
  • Compliance with legal obligations
  • Your consent (for specific permissions/features where required)

5. Sharing of Information

We may share information:

  • With vendors/service providers that help us run infrastructure, analytics, storage, support, and related operations
  • With Apple and payment/platform providers for identity, purchase, and platform operations
  • With other users only as needed for social/study room functionality you choose to use

  • Manage subscription status through your Apple account

MandarinRise is not intended for unsupervised use by young children. If we become aware that we collected personal information in violation of applicable law, we may remove or restrict it.

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ.

  • The current version will be made available through app settings.
  • We do not guarantee advance notice, individual notice, or specific notice of changes.
